This 3-ingredientย Kinako Latte is a greatย alternative to hot chocolate as itโs rich and comforting without being too sweet, and a fab caffeine-free option if youโre tired of herbal tea.
Kinako, which means โyellow flourโ in Japanese, is roasted soybean flour (so it's gluten-free), and is widely used in Japanese cuisine.
Kinako is traditionally used in Japanese sweet treats such as mochi, but I like to use it forย Kinako French Toast!
It lends aย lovely rich, nutty and naturally sweet flavour and is also really healthy as it's full of protein andย B vitamins.ย You can buy kinako in Asian supermarkets.
You can use whatever milk you like for this Kinako Latte, but I personally like to use unsweetened cashew or almond milk. You could even enjoy this drinkย without any added sugar asย kinako has aย naturally sweet flavour, but you can add any sweetener you like.
This latte can be enjoyed hot or cold! I had mine steaming hot and frothed it up with the aid of my newly purchased hand-held milk foamer - I highly recommend you get one too. They're really cheap yet somehow manage to bring so much joy.
