Substitutions you can make
These recipes are all flexible and the ingredients can easily be substituted for others. All the individual recipes include substitution notes, but in general:
- Ground almonds (almond meal) can be replaced with ground walnuts or ground sunflower seeds.
- If you’re not gluten-free, gluten-free flour can be replaced with plain flour.
- Liquid sweeteners can be used interchangeably: maple syrup, agave syrup, brown rice syrup etc.
- Plant-based milks can be used interchangeably: almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, rice milk, cashew milk etc.
- Banana slices.
- Maple syrup.
- Melted chocolate.
- Almond or peanut butter.
- Toasted coconut flakes.
- Chopped nuts.
- Fresh berries.
- Coconut whipped cream or coconut yogurt.
- Jam or marmalade.
